The Oberosterreichischer Verein fur Luftschiffahrt or Upper Austrian Association for Aerial Navigation was founded on 5 Feb. 1909 in Linz a. D. (Linz am Danue or Linz on the Danube). The association's journal was Fachzeitung H. P. In 1911, or possibly 1910, it joined the Austrian federation, OeLV.

The Association's protector was His Highness, the Kaiser and King, Archduke Josef Ferdinand of Austria. The initial officers included Adolf Ritter von Pitner, president; Franz von Aichelburg-Labia and Rudolf Schamschula, vice presidents; and Julius Sedlacek, secretary and office director. As of 1910, there were 475 members including six balloon guides. The association owned one free balloon and used the Gasanstalt (Gasworks) Linz a.D. as its balloon place.

The English translation of the name is from 1909 Jane's. For further information, could check citations in 1921 Brockett
