Morris Newgold was an aero inventor in Manhattan.
It is possible he was the same Morris Newgold of Manhattan who owned the Times Square Hotel and went on to make investments in Woodstock, New York, and an Overlook Hotel or some such. Can we identify him to be this hotelier? That character seems to be something of a risk-taker, but the sources don't seem to suggest a technological bent.
Sources about Morris Newgold, hotelier, whose appearance in the news on that topic seems to be centered on the 1911-1929 period: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], w:Overlook Mountain
