Elliott Emerson Furney was an aero inventor from St. Louis and, it seems, the author of Culture, a modern method (1891; link).
He obtained a non-aero patent dealing with wastewater.
Assuming no other Elliott E. Furney lived in St. Louis contemporaneously, he had an M.D. and was treasurer of the St. Louis College of Physicians and Surgeons.[1]
