Bennet Woodcroft was a long lasting and influential British patent agency official. He was Clerk of the patent office, and perhaps had other roles.
He did not think patents should be thoroughly "examined" at the time of the application. He supported the creation of technical classifications of patents and publications about British patents in each classification, to support searches.
