Camille Flammarion was an astronomer and science author.
Flammarion made twelve balloon ascents in 1867 for the purpose of measuring humidity and air currents.[1] He published Les Ballons et les Voyages Aériens under the pseudonym Fulgence Marion.
Flammarion founded the Société astronomique de France, in which his close associate Wilfrid de Fonvielle also participated.
