Henry Bright was an aero inventor in London credited by some as the first to patent a helicopter. Despite the frequent references to this patent the biographical literature on Bright is sparse at best and even the years of his life are not forthcoming from various searches.
Short's DB lists an 1859 patent for a counter-rotating helicopter by Henry Bright, as if it were a US one, but we find no US one. We're assuming for now that it refers to the British one.
