The Société des ingénieurs civils de France was founded in 1848. It published a Bulletin and Mémoires et compte rendu des travaux, which sometimes touched on aero topics. A number of its members were aero inventors.

See, for a start, the various entries under "navigation aérienne" in an index of articles from 1848–1884.

Alexandre Arson was a founding member of this group, and Jules-Alexis-Marie Armengaud was once secretary.

Other included Abel Hureau de Villeneuve,

Its address in the 1880s was 10, cité rougemont, Paris; later 19, rue Blanche.[1] (We have a record which may indicate some connection with the SFNA... Société Française de Navigation Aérienne, , Headquarters, hôtel des ingénieurs civils de France, 19 rue Blanche, Paris. The Syndicat Général de l'Aviation also seems to have been housed there.)
