The preface and main text of the book are signed Sayão Lobato, so the inventor author cannot really be the João Evangelista de Negreiros Saião Lobato (1817–1894) who appears on pt.wikipedia—but it could be his son.
The text contains (p. 15) a description of a tapered cylindrical aluminum gas-powered airship with a screw (spiral) shape around the exterior.
At the end are letters from prominent engineers and scientists opining on the viability of the design.
