Samuel Archer King was an aero inventor and author originally from Philadelphia. He apparently had some association with the American Aeronautic Society of New York, which published a book about him.
He wrote a number of aero-related biographies, including an autobiography, for Appletons' Cyclopædia of American Biography; see w:wikisource:Author:Samuel Archer King.
