Short Brothers
Beginning January 1909, Short Brothers Ltd., UK, built Type A Wright Flyers under license, completing six before concentrating on its own designs; its start preceded Wright & Co.s own ability to produce aircraft because the latter lacked production facilities. Short Brothers also built Short-Wright glider, 1909.
They established a sizable workshop at Shellbeach Aerodrome on Sheppey Island off the coast of Kent, part of an aeronautics grounds set up by the Aero Club of the United Kingdom. [1]

Flight magazine (11 January 1913) shares the good news about the Short Brothers height recorder (aneroid barometer), which marks the maximum altitude achieved on a flight as well as informing the aviator of current altitude and of atmospheric pressure.
