Patent GB-1911-29012

This original document is fairly extraordinary, or at least unusually and immediately indicative, of British administrative culture, that is, peculiarities, in terms of multiple patent numbers, with nicely outlined filing dates and so forth, being displayed right on the first page of “one patent”. Multiple patent numbers, as well may see them, constitute the “provisional specifications” leading up to ONE “complete specification”.

So, whereas in other British cases we have seen a patent, with its own original document, and its own searchable record on Espacenet, a patent calling itself an addition to some other patent, here we have “No. 29,012 ... A.D. 1911” seemingly as the first of four “provisional specifications”. We have “No. 2664, A.D.” as the second, “No. 15,938, A.D. 1912” as the third, and “No. 15,939, A.D. 1912” as the forth. The titles vary between them. As always in the case of British patents, the filing year is displayed in a manner as if it is of a piece with the patent number.

This means that various non-British references to British filing dates will not be directly associated with “29012” or with “191129012”, as such, but with other patent numbers, outlined on the one document.

The design is for a "hydro-aëronautical machine" (these are generally called hydroaeroplanes, seaplanes, etc.) with "splayed or inclined hydropeds whereon are mounted a number of hydroplanes of the non-buoyant type."
