"Aerial machines without aerostats; propelling; steering. The machine is raised and propelled by two or more pairs of valved wings, of which one member A moves up as the other B moves down, the simultaneous movement of the corresponding wings A, C of adjacent pairs being also in opposite directions. The wings can be inclined in the direction of flight so as to yield an horizontal propelling force, and such adjustment may be made independently upon either side of the machine for lateral steering.
