  • From the google patents abstract: "Steering and balancing by adjustable surfaces arranged laterally in pairs. Planes or shields are pivoted adjacent to the forward edge of the supporting - planes, and are angularly adjusted from the normal position parallel to the planes, to positions at or towards right angles thereto so as to impede the flow of air to either the upper or lower side of the planes."
