The "Office des brevets d'invention et des marques de fabrique", "Office of invention patents and trademarks", is the successor to the Office de Brevets, and was created in 1900, taking the name "Office national de la propriété industrielle", or "ONPI", in 1902.

This was replaced by the present INPI (France), in 1951.
