Froberg Aeroplane Company

The Froberg Aeroplane Company existed in Richmond, California in 1910-12.

The company was associated with patent-holder Johan Richard Froberg. The company was imagined or expected to produce airplanes with a 60 h.p. Sturtevant motor.[1]

In 1910, the company was a coapplicant for Patent US-1910-1012836 with Mr. Froberg.

A newspaper article indicates that just before 4 Jan. 1912, persons from the company -- "J. V. Froberg" (manager and president), James H. Edelen (treasurer), and Richard B. E. Ferriss, investigated the possibility of setting up a factory in nearby San Rafael (north, across the bay from Richmond).[2] It seems likely that "J. V." is Johan Richard. (There could have been multiple Frobergs in the enterprise, but the only known patentholder would likely have been near the top, and would likely have checked out possible factory locations.)

We find no later references to the company.

An apparently unrelated Froberg Aerospace company started up in 2016.[3]
