This lays out many essential elements of "The Aëroplane", in the sense of a complete aircraft using angled airfoils and a motor. For stability Brown suggests as one possibility the use of two planes connected at a distance.

Brown patented some kind of flying machine in 1872 — Patent GB-1872-411 — which might be an airplane.
