The "Tarrant Tabor" 1919

Walter George Tarrant was a British "Builder"[1] born in Gosport, 8 April 1875 and deceased in Wales, 18 March 1942. He was active with lightweight frame construction, generally, and in its military applications. This veered naturally into his work with the fuselage of the airplane. His work perhaps culminated, though tragically, in his building of the "Tarrant Tabor", an immense triplane bomber , first flown 26 May 1919, with said flight ending in a crash with fatalities. Of note, this aircraft was manufactured by W.G. Tarrant Ltd, though designed by Walter Barling.

We have him specifically located at Lake House, Byfleet, Surrey, United Kingdom.[2] This is the location from which he did most of his filing, international and otherwise.

He seems to have moved beyond frames and fuselage into various other aspects of airplane design. His branching into work pertinent to the airplane straddles the late of our years of primary focus, ultimately with citings (made in later years) referring back to his earlier material. Throughout, wood is key to his light-weight work with aircraft fuselage. He sometimes files in collaboration with Walter Henry Barling, an aeronautical engineer located at "Cabar", Petersham Avenue, Byfleet, Surrey.[3] We also have him filing with Émile Bouillon, and again, another self-described per se aeronautical engineer.[4]
