The U.S. Patent Classification subclass USPC 244/233 is for Cables in control systems.

Category tree descending from USPC 244/221, from USPTO site:[1]

  • USPC 244/221 Control System: Subclassed under USPC 244/220. Aeronautical machines with arrangements of structural and other movable parts, with movable parts being moved by a human operator to move a structural part for guiding the aeronautical machine or structure thereby. See USPC 74/491+ for hand operated control lever and linkage systems.
    • USPC 244/222 Other than hand or foot actuated: a movable part (e.g., a seat) is engaged by an operator's body but not the hands or feet. See USPC 74/515 for knee and elbow operated control lever and linkage systems respectively.
    • USPC 244/223 With feel: Apparatus wherein the part engaged by the human operator is provided with means for providing a physical sensation to the operator as it is being moved, the sensation generally being proportional to the force acting on the controlled structure (e.g., flaps, elevators, etc.).
    • USPC 244/224 With locking means: a fastening or other holding means for maintaining a movable aircraft control or other structure in an attitude or position.
    • USPC 244/225 With dual purpose surface structure, e.g., elevons: a structural control part movable to perform multiple aircraft control functions which would otherwise be controlled by separate structural control parts. Includes control structures with an added or alternative movement to perform the function of another control structure (e.g., an aileron acting as a flap).
    • USPC 244/226 Fluid: Fluid pressure device for transmitting movement of the manually movable part of the movable structural part.
      • USPC 244/227 With electric control: electric control circuitry for the regulation of the fluid power device.
    • USPC 244/228 Electric: electric motive means for transmitting movement of the manually movable part to the movable structural part.
    • USPC 244/229 Dual: Apparatus enables full or partial operation of aircraft control systems from two or more stations in the aircraft.
    • USPC 244/230 With variable output: movable parts have relative movement which varies with respect to an operational parameter to alter the extent of movement of the structural part for a given movement of an operator controlled movable part.
    • USPC 244/231 With interengaging gearing: includes a movable part with teeth or other projections about its periphery for cooperation with complementary surface configurations of another movable part, movement of one of the parts causing movement of the other.
    • USPC 244/232 With cable and linkage: movable parts comprise at least one elongate flexible member and at least one rodlike member connected thereto movable generally lengthwise for actuating a structural; part or parts to guide the aeronautical machine. A bellcrank or other lever movable about a pivot is not considered to be linkage for classification here. USPC 244/221 and USPC 244/231 have such pivoted structures combined with linkage or cable to move an aircraft control structure.
    • USPC 244/233 Cable: movable parts comprise an elongate flexible member interconnecting a manually movable part and a structural part or a member integral with the structural part. See USPC 74/500.5+ for flexible cable transmitters, per se.
