Serkis-Bey Ballian

Serkis-Bey Ballian, member of the prominent Armenian-Ottoman Ballian/Balyan family, was an architect who submitted patents in Britain and France for a hybrid balloon-parachute.
Based in Istanbul, he was educated in Paris and traveled and worked internationally. In addition to architecture he was involved in railroad construction, coal mining, and sawmilling. He received the title Bey in 1864.[1]
