The Kingdom of Saxony (de:Sachsen) had a continuous government from 1806 to 1918, and was part of the German Empire starting in 1871s.[1]

It became the Free State of Saxony that is in Germany now. SAX is an abbreviation in this wiki referring to Kingdom of Saxony. From 1808-1871 it was the independent Kingdom of Saxony. From 1871 on, Sachsen continued as kingdom in the German Empire and then after 1918 became a state in subsequent German governments, all designated DE here.

Dresden is the capital of the modern State of Saxony, and Leipzig is also in the same State, was in the same Kingdom.

Donges and Streb report that until 1871 Saxony had a lower/easier standard for what deserved a patent than Prussia data.[2]
