Rudolf Diesel was an engineer known for his engine design. Diesel filed more than thirty patents from the 1890s through 1912; these included a system for connecting electrical wires to a balloon.
Diesel was born in Paris and as an adult lived in a number of different places, including Paris, Berlin-Charlottenburg, and Augusburg.
