Roman Andreas Pomiansky was an aero inventor, whom we have in connexion with one invention in balloon steering, filing from Jezewo, near Lomzynska, Russia (at the time).[1] Compressed air, channeled via tubes, is used in the steering.[2] The location with which the inventor is associated is now in Poland. The surname may be Polish and the identity and culture of the inventor, residing within Imperial Russia, though not being an ethnic Russian, may be seen in the light of his filing with Western European patent offices.

British data gives us the fuller and variably spelled name "Roman Andreas Pomiansky", the location phraseology "Village of Jezewo, Russian Poland", and the occupation status "Gentleman".[3]
