Ralph Upson (b. 28 June 1888; d. 1968) was an engineer and aeronaut.

Educated in public schools of Glen Ridge, New Jersey, and at M. E. Steven's Institute of Technology.[1]

Made first balloon ascent in 1906 and constructed own balloon in 1912.[1]

Worked in the Aeronautics Division of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Worked on aeronautics for United States Navy during the war.[1]

Won 1919 National Balloon Race.[1]

In the 1920s, Upson designed a metalclad airship using duralumin and Alclad. A vessel based on this design, created by the Airship Development Corporation, first flew in 1929.[2]

Memberships (1922) included Aero Club of America, American Meteorological Society, Royal Aeronautical Society, Ohio Society of New York. Consulting engineer and contributing editor to Aviation.[1]
