Ausscheidungsfliegen (aero-specific term similar to Ausscheidungsfahren or Ausscheidungsrennen) "elimination" race to see who would lead Germany's third balloon in the final race in October 1908. (Presumably, Oskar Erbslöh, who won the 2nd Gordon Bennett International Balloon Race and thereby brought the race to Germany, was selected automatically; who was the second captain?)

Administered by the "Sportkommission" (full name might be longer).

Balloons competing included Köln and Dresden of the Sächsischen Verein für Luftschiffahrt. The balloons were to be smaller than 1430 m3, and competed to travel the farthest distance in 24 hours.

A Dr. Niemeyer won the elimination race and went on to compete in the international race in October.
