Note: This word almost invariably equates with propellers.

Other techtypes related to Propulseur: Hélice, Propellers Propulseur seems in our context to mean propeller in our context though it sporadically refers to other kinds of propulsion, e.g. flapping or reaction engines/jets. Note the "Propulseur à air comprimé pour ballon dirigeable" of Patent FR-1899-284331E, or "Propulseur à vapeur", Patent FR-1883-158856. The word is often qualified in such a manner as "propulseur à ailes", Patent FR-1895-248672, "propulseur à ailettes", Patent FR-1901-310077, "Propulseur à hélice perfectionné", Patent FR-1878-127183, all indicative of "propellers", indeed, as we use the term. This has naturally to do with the "blades", "wings", or "winglets", and so forth, not being assumed. It is as the word "propulseur" came to have this implication that other specifiers, such as "Propulseur aérien", Patent FR-1898-276035, or "Propulseur pour vaisseaux aérostatiques", Patent FR-1899-294871, came to be used more liberally.

There seems to be a differential usage between our per se French material and the francophone material of Belgium. (In the latter, "hélice" seems to have been used, in place of "propulseur à hélice", and indeed instead of "propulseur", as this latter came to be used.) Of peculiar note here, perhaps, is that "hélice" is the currently standard francophone word equivalent to our English "propeller", whereas "propulseur" designates any equipment oriented towards propulsion.
