Operator stands upright on a platform and operates flapping wings, which have blades at the end capable of closing for the downstroke and opening on the upstroke. A sustaining aeroplane sits above the wings.
The wings will then assume a partly concave and partly convex position and the movable blades, being held in position by the wire strings, will rise to about an angle of 25°, giving thereby forward propulsion to the machine, while at the same time the wings lift the structure off the ground. At the same time as the forward motion is imparted, the aeroplane, which is located above the wings, assists, owing to its angle of inclination, in lifting the machine off the ground and prevents it from descending during the next upward stroke of the wings. The movable blades drop down during the up-stroke of the wings into a corresponding angle to the wings, but below the same, and assist thereby the forward propulsion, the wings assuming then a convexo-concave position [...]
