Dirigible airship: balloon shifts shape depending on direction of wind; balloon divided into three compartments one on top of the other; watertight basket; rows of seats for passengers, telescopes for looking at scenery

"On the under side of the lowest compartment, A', is formed a transverse offset, A3, directly above the propeller-wheel C', before mentioned. This offset causes the air thrown out by the propeller-wheel C' to exert a pressure against the front part of the lower compartment, a', so that the balloon will rise more easily."

USPTO classifies this long and sprawling patent only under USPC 244/28 (LTA ships powered by flapping).

  • Inventor location (imputed by HistPat): New York, New York county, NY (FIPSloc=36061)
