From google patents: "Anchoring.-Lighter-than-air aircraft are moored to a mast by ropes attached to points symmetrically disposed on either side of the nose of the craft, the line joining the points preferably passing through the line of the resultant wind-pressure. As shown, the mast A has a crutch B fitted with winches C<1>, C<2> from which the mooring ropes extend to a pair of 'Parseval ring' attachments ..."
