Steering and balancing.-To check excessive side-slip and tilting at a turn, the lateral edge of the plane is connected by a wire b to some fixed point, so that, when the rear edge of the plane is warped downwards by a pull on the wire A, the deflected portion slopes upwards to the lateral edge t, as shown in dotted lines. The edge t may be raised above the level of the rest of the plane bya pull on the wire b."
