Patent GB-1911-19550

From Inventing aviation
Jump to navigation Jump to search

More or less a wing warping system using mobile framework elements to change the shape of airfoils in flight.

Doesn't cite Patent FR-1910-417668 as the original patent but resembles it closely and uses some of the same illustrations. At least some of the text is close translation of the French version. Translates nervure as "deformable rib". This version is longer, with more figures, which perhaps illustrate the technology more clearly.

It might be noteworthy that the two patents are classified differently by CPC, the FR patent under CPC B64C3/48 ('changing camber by morphing') and the GB patent under CPC B64C3/52 ("warping"). Both fall within CPC B64C3/38.
