The machine comprises two wings G, a fixed plane i, and a rearwardly projecting rudder. The wings are actuated by a compressed air motor F supplied from a reservoir behind the aëronaut, which is replenished by air pumps actuated by hand and treadle mechanism E, D. The whole is supported on the shoulders of the aëronaut, who runs along the ground to start the apparatus. The wings are provided with cloth valves that open on the upstrokes and a kind of depending flange r on its forward edge.
