"A new system or mode of transportation of packages or other objects . . . by land, by water or in the air, by instantaneous or by graduated speed" - Subject matter of patents "Vulcanized india-rubber is distended, and any objects are attached thereto, such as mail bags, boats, waggons, or balloons, which, on being released, are drawn along by the india-rubber" -- Brewer and Alexander, who add "provisional protection refused". Maybe means not granted.
Seems to be just a stretched band; not really aero.
- Inventor location: Paris, but a US citizen from NYC
