On the question of comparisons between the parachute and the umbrella, incidentally, this patent specifically refers to innovations which are applicables to "rods", whether they are rigid, or elastic.

This patent family, that is, the French additions to this initial French brevet, actually go somewhat beyond parachutes, into the airplane in other capacities. There are still relations to the parachute. We may look further into this.

Incidentally, while the initial brevet was filed without the aid of a patent agent, the three additions were facilitated by A. Chenault.
