Patent FR-1909-404549.14525
The original of this patent — would be Patent FR-1909-404549 — is oddly missing from all databases. Can additions be granted and published when the original has failed somehow? The original is dated 25 June 1909 according to this addition.
Although this is admittedly an unusual case, I would still be heavily inclined to think that the original brevet did in fact exist, and was likely granted. We don't have any information on the number of copies which were contemporaneously printed, and we are familiar with the contemporary, to us, sharing between databases images and data drawn from single copies. Indeed, for some reason, I for one have seen numerous examples of French patents, filed by French inventors, having Dutch archival-library stamps on them, suggesting a limited access to scanned originals. There are any number of digital era document image loss possibilities, and the chance of even multiple (unscanned) physical copies still in existence.-JRH
"FR404549" does in fact yield results on Espacenet, though the results are quite shaky. "No title available" is something we've seen before, on legitimate patents. The lack of the original, here, is a key problem.
