  • Lorin Wright was here.
  • We leave Tuesday on the Lou Willis and will get back home to you Thursday
  • The others all left; only Will and I are still at the camp.
  • George A. Spratt left Monday.
  • Octave Chanute and Augustus Herring left.
  • We're short of food but there's only two of us eating now.
  • We went to the woods, looking at birds, and to the beach for starfish, crabs, and shells.
  • Spratt knows the woods -- every bird, bug, and plant.
  • The past five days have been better for gliding than ever before. In two days we made over 250 glides, more than in all the time while Lorin was here. It hasn't rained since Lorin left.
  • Our proficiency with the glider has improved. We can fly in any weather now.
  • On the 21st we had wind of 16 m/sec, that is 30 mph, and glided without trouble. No one ever took a glider through such a wind. We now hold all the records! The largest machine, the longest distance American glide, the longest duration glide, the smallest angle of descent, and the highest wind!
  • To keep warm we run a fire all night.
