Nikolay Teleshov

Nikolay Afanasyevich Teleshov was a Russian aero inventor. He had been an artillery officer in the Russian Imperial Army and retired with the rank of captain. In 1862 he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy and Law of St. Petersburg University, and became a professor, entrepreneur, and inventor. He has a substantial Russian Wikipedia article.[1] He worked on fixed-wing designs and is described as a pioneer in jet (reaction) engines.
He's referred to as Nicholas de Telescheff in European and U.S. sources generally, including Brewer and Alexander, 1893, Aeronautics. [2] His parents were well-known and wealthy. His father was also a businessperson.

- Makholet Teleshova, Mennon and Struve. In 1864, Teleshov with Mennon and Struve patented two aircraft projects in France and the United Kingdom: a passenger aircraft project with a steam engine called “Aeronautics System” and a flywheel project with a muscular engine.(Patent GB-1864-2299)
- In 1867, Teleshov patented in France and Germany a project of an aircraft with a pulsating jet engine called “Advanced Aeronautics System”, called “Delta” in some sources.

- The project "System of aeronautics" (drawing from the patent) was intended to carry 120 passengers. The imagined aircraft was an all-metal monoplane with an upstream wing of extremely small elongation and an oblong fuselage with a streamlined shape with a rectangular cross section, inside which were provided two passenger decks. The wing had a thin slightly curved profile, pointed at both ends, the contours of which were formed by double fabric covering. The loads acting on the wing, should have been perceived as a system of braces, and internal power elements of the wing, having a truss structure. The control of the apparatus was to be carried out using the elevators and directions, located in the jet of the pushing propeller. It was also possible to control the position of the center of gravity of the aircraft by moving a special load along the bowsprit at the forward end of the fuselage. A steam engine in the middle of the fuselage would rotate a propeller at the tail end through a long shaft. For takeoff, a detachable chassis carriage was envisaged.

- “Improved Aeronautics System” - drawing from patent: Like the previous plane Teleshov, the aircraft "Delta" was intended to carry passengers inside the closed fuselage. It was a monoplane with a high-placed triangular wing and an oblong, pointed from the nose, fuselage of circular section, which had a geodesic structure (that is, a structure formed by diagonal force elements passing directly under the skin). The skin of the fuselage and the wing had to be linen. In the rear part of the fuselage, a TDIT should be located, the device of which was also patented by Teleshov. The Delta aircraft project was one of the first aircraft projects with a HRVD and an air-jet engine in general. French inventor Charles de Louvrié patented a plane in 1865 which had some similarity.
