According to this source, the First Aero Squadron in Mexico was tasked with reconnaissance, which to some extent it accomplished. Miller confirms the report in Freudenthal, 1940, The Aviation Business that the Squadron's airplanes did not work at first and went through a lengthy and unsatisfactory repair process. However, he also describes some successful missions which were eventually accomplished.
