Letter from P. Meyer, engineer at Köln am Rhein, concerning a lecture given by Rudolf Diesel in advance of a publication concerning his new motor.

Diesel's invention is described as a Wärmemotor (usually translated as "heat engine"), described as working with unprecedented efficiency in using 30% of the available heat power. Meyer goes on to describe the unique action of the piston.
