Albert Leo Stevens
Albert Leo Stevens was an inventor and balloonist from New York.
Stevens had intended to enter the competition at the St. Louis World's Fair.[1] However, he publicly withdrew, writing to Scientific American that the minimum requirement of 20mph speed made it impossible to win.[2]
He built a balloon for Joel Trout Rice[3] and probably others.
"Stevens provided 27 Sept 1877 as his birthdate on his World War I registration, but expert Allen Koenigsberg says he was probably born in 1871 in Cleveland, Ohio, and not with the name Stevens."[4]
