German observatory using balloon and kite methods for atmospheric readings. Directed by Wilhelm von Bezold then Richard Assmann and linked with the International Commission for Scientific Aeronautics.

Published its data in Ergebnissen der Arbeiten am Aëronautischen Observatorium and then Ergebnisse der Arbeiten des Königlich Preußischen Aeronautischen Observatoriums bei Lindenberg; its members also published data etc. in other journals.

Alternate versions of the name include every permutation of abbreviation and alternative ortography, i.e.: Kgl., Presussiche, Aëronautische.

Located in Berlin from 1900–1905, then moved to Lindenberg, a small town 50 miles to the southeast. (map)
