Israel Lancaster was an aero inventor in Chicago.

Octave Chanute and Robert H. Thurston invited Lancaster to speak at the August 1886 meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Buffalo. Lancaster's talk, entitled "The Soaring Bird", described his two decades of bird observations and experiments with models. Lancaster's presentation was a bit of a disappointment and there was outrage at the sequel when he failed to demonstrate flying models.[1]
