Naturally, this word is key to our work, in general, and in terms of English and French linguistic usage on original documents.

The quality of any particular invention, as true innovation, may come up relative to our low quality patent discussion.

As a point of administrative culture, Belgian usage gets tricky here. The Belgian “brevet”(patent) will be of a few types, the “invention”, the “perfectionnement”, or the “importation”. This is not strictly analogous to the francophone usage of France, in which “brevet” equals “patent”, indeed, though the “certificat d'addition” is, very technically, is a nominally different document type than the “brevet”.
