International Aeronautical Congress of 1906

Organized by the Permanent International Aeronautic Commission which had been set up in 1900 at the Second Aeronautical Congress in Paris.

The conference's patron and honorary president was Amedeo di Savoia-Aosta, the duke of Aosta. The local committee was headed by Giovanni Celoria, director of the Brera Astronomical Observatory in Milan (Brera is a district in Milan).

The official language (in which resolutions were agreed upon) was French. Presentation and discussion could occur in all the usual languages, including Esperanto.

The subject matter was divided into four sections: (1) Aeronautics, (2) Aviation, (3) Scientific application (i.e. meteorology, instruments, astronomy, physiology, and photography.), and (4) Aerial law.
