Shifting page links

Links to Hathitrust pages can change! This has happened in more than one case, suggesting that the numbering of pages (in URL) was changed, possibly due to the addition of new pages at the beginning or middle of the document. Using a citation which includes the original page number will help future users to navigate to the right page if the link is a little off.

25 January 2024: In the left hand menu under "Share" the system will generate a "Link to this page scan". Some sources (e.g.) imply this is a better way to get a durable link. HathiTrust itself is not clear on the matter. Maybe we should try using this—or better yet contact them to confirm that this link format is preferable.
