Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung

This phrase, whether abbreviated as "G.m.b.H." or as "G. m. b. H.", simply translates as "Company with limited liability". It is thereby equivalent to the modern anglophone "LLC", and is often not a mere legal qualifier but is actually part of the corporate per se name in question. This gets complicated in that the full designation may be reduced either in antique analogue documents or in modern data entered digitally. On occasion, the abbreviation is only partially used, with "Gesellschaft", for instance, being spelled out fully.
