Henry Farman and Maurice-Allan Farman founded an airplane company. Their father, T. F. Farman, was a journalist of aviation among other things.

The Farmans lived in Paris while T. F. Farman reported for The Standard and The Tribune. The three sons, Henry, Maurice, and Dick, became mechanics and went into business as Farman Frères, running the Palais de l'Automobile, the biggest garage in Paris.[1]

Henry led the way into aviation; Henry and Maurice formed Avions Henri et Maurice Farman. This was nationalized in the 1930s but they continued working on automobiles and airplanes.[1]

The Farman sons were British citizens but were all eventually naturalized as French.[1]
