Everard Richard Calthrop, born March 3, 1857, deceased March 30, 1927), was a British railway engineer, and inventor. It was later in life that he became an aero-inventor[1], extraordinarily prolific, residing at Eldon Street House, Eldon Street, London, County of Middlesex, Great Britain. He worked greatly with balloons, particularly of the captive variety. He worked even perhaps more seriously on parachutes, with somewhat of a focus on the "launching" of parachutes.

Here are the results of a Basic Espacenet search using Everard Richard Calthrop as applicant and B64 as CPC classification. He was fairly prolific beyond out years of emphasis, with a German filing, if not more than one, factoring in later, likely due to wartime factors of international antagonism.
