[Might be a provisional title until more precise or contemporary organizational nomenclature gets worked out.]

Long-term military aero activity was centered around Chalais-Meudon.

The French army bought 5 airplanes in 1909 to study their military value: two Wrights, two Farmans, and a Blériot. It, following tests conducted by captain Albert Octave Étévé, did not find the Wright aircraft to its liking, from an aerodynamical perspective, and didn't use them after November 1910. [1]
