Andrej Kvas was a Slovak blacksmith. With his brother he opened a bicycle and motorcycle repair shop in Budapest. It had a workshop. He began experiments with flying, apparently before 1908. "In 1908, he was approached by the wealthy Hungarian engineer Aladár Koch-Zsélyi with an offer to design an aircraft according to his plans. [Supported by] Koch's parents, they were able to build the aircraft in a [large] rented hangar . . ." They completed it in 1910. Kvas built more aircraft and flew exhibitions for years, and was a military pilot for the Austro-Hungarian army in WWI.[1]
