An aero club at Bar Harbor, Maine, said to be the first in the state, was formed ca. 14 Aug. 1910 with the backing of a number of summer residents. Arrangements were being made for an aviation meet for 29-30 August. Plans for the meet fell through but it was decided that the club would stay intact and it was hoped that there would be a meet in the summer of 1911.

Officers elected included Gen. Edward Morell, president, on whose property the meet was to be held; Edward Beale McLean, vice president; Arthur D. Addison, treasurer; and E. S. Clark, secretary.
